.com may have started the internet revolution 25 years ago but now there is a new domain extension set to knock at the heels of the .coms.
There are 90,000,000 or so .coms registered so admittedly .co has a long way to go but .co can mean more than just commerce as .com does, it can me company, communications, corporation and this is where I see the future value of this domain extension. Not to mention that if the user can type in just one character less e.g. .co instead of .com then that means they can reach a commercial website that little bit quicker.
.co is set to make the internet that little bit easier to navigate.

The thing is that if .co was the first extension then there is no way anyone would bother to register the .com version. This is the internet, less is more. Had you been used to finding websites by simply having .co at the end you would not contemplate making your URL look ugly by adding an 'm' on the end.
Yet the fact is that .com came first and the adoption of .co, as it is shorter, will be far greater than if the .co came first and you had to add an 'm' on to get a .com.
